Why do I get a HTTP 400 - Bad Request Error? (394758 Requests)

When you get a message like this turn off friendly HTTP error messages in IE. To do this go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. Uncheck show friendly HTTP error messages. Once you have done this you should get a more detailed message which will point you to the real problem.

Sounds like a spyware problem to me. Try running Ad Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/.

You first need to turn off the friendly error messages. That should help you get started since it will let you see the real error.

If you are still stuck try posting your error message.

Microsoft's Hotmail won't allow you open up email attachments or files that contain foreign extended character sets. This is a problem with the page design itself. Contact Microsoft for a solution.

This is a SQLXML page - not a ebay support page! - Im getting this error (The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request - The data is invalid.) whilst trying to connect to a webservice using a c# web application in asp.net 2003.

I have set up the proxy on the web server and gave it my details, and have also specified my network Credentials none of this seems to work. I know the error say the data is invalid, but the soap request generated by the web application seems fine, as i have fired it at the webservice using xmlsopy and got a response!

why does it not work in .net/internet explorer!!!

i formatted the harddisk and loaded win 98 and also win Xp .. dual operating system... in both of them it is not working ..

Hi! Recently i had a problem viewing Ebay Auctions. I got the problem "Http:/1.1 Bad Request" Happy to say, i think i found a solution. Auctions load fine now. Anyway, heres the soluton that worked for me!
Go to Internet Options > Advanced. Scroll down to the header "HTTP 1.1" Check the option that says "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections"
Note: You will still get the error on Mozilla FireFox, but on I.E it will work fine.

I totally agree. I uninstalled Google Web Accelerator and the problem disappeared! Thanks so much! I spent hours downloading registry fix programs, running virus/adware/spyware scans and the problem didn't seem to get any better. But I wonder WHY GWA does this. Here is an interesting scenario. Please let me know a fix if anyone knows how to resolve the issue:

I am using Windows Vista and Earthlink DSL [aDSL]. Using Zyxel P645 M UHP aDSL Modem.
IP: 172.16.1.10
DG: 172.16.0.254

When I type the modem IP [172.16.0.264] in the address bar of IE7, I get the modem page. It asks me to type my Earthlink username and password, which I do. When I click on the submit button, it gives me a "HTTP 400 - Bad Request Error", due to which I am unable to configure the modem and get connected to DSL.

A couple of my friends have the same configuration [Vista+IE7+Earthlink DSL+Zyxel P645M modem]. They too have experience the same issue.

Now here's the deal. I do have Windows XP computer with Internet Explorer 6 and I am able to successfully configure the modem with my XP computer. No problems.

So here's my conclusion:
1. Either Windows Vista is not able to configure the Zyxel P645M modem. OR
2. Internet Explorer 7 is not able to configure the Zyxel P645M modem.

Am I correct? Do you have a fix? I would appreciate a reply.

Uninstalling 'Windows Live OneCare Family Safety' of the new version of messenger to resolve the issue works for me.
Try uninstalling partially the most recent software installed, if was Windows Live Messenger, uninstall one component.

Ok, i've got the same problem, when i try hotmail.com 'http 400 bad request shows up. So I uncheked 'show friendly http messages' and then I simply get 'Bad request, invalid verb' ??? This has happened to me more then once! What can I do!!???
